General Provident Fund (GPF)

The Office of Controller of Communication Accounts (CCA), earlier called DoT Cell, came into existence from 01.10.2000, , the nomenclature of which was subsequently changed to the Office of Controller of Communication Accounts (CCA), consequent upon formation of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd with the task of maintenance of GPF broadsheets, long term loans and advances and their recovery/accounting, issue of GPF slips, inter-circle settlement of GPF balances and loans and advances in cases of transfers and final payment in retirement cases. The Controller of Communication Accounts, West Bengal Circle is responsible for the above function in respect of individual Employee of this office as well as BSNL employees who fall under purview of GPF Rules.

The monthly deduction of subscription of individual employees from their pay bill made by different units of BSNL under the jurisdiction of West Bengal Circles are accounted for in the monthly account and schedule (in duplicate) containing full detail of subscriber including GPF account No. A consolidated net amount Credits minus Debits so arrived is passed on by the BSNL circle to the CCA office by means of crossed Cheque/Draft on or before the 10th of every month following the month of transaction. The CCA office, on the receipt of cheque/demand drafts takes into account the same into cash book with proper classification and also takes step to post the recovery/payment schedule in the broadsheets to arrive at the closing balance on month to month basis under General Provident Fund. Final payment of accumulated GPF balance are paid by the CCA Office to all employees of group A,B,C and D of BSNL on their superannuation/retirement/death in harness.
